About the Role

About Somnia:

SOMNIA is the Agentic Chain - a hyper-performance L1 operating at an order of magnitude faster than existing networks. We empower builders and traders to create real-time, autonomous, and fully decentralized products, powered by agents, that were previously impossible and cannot be built anywhere else. It’s where the future of Web3 protocols will be built, so we’re facilitating a new wave of on-chain applications from DEX to Prediction Protocols and much, much more.

Somnia is being developed by Somnia Foundation backed by Improbable, a British tech Unicorn +++ that has been at the forefront of building virtual worlds for over a decade. Somnia received initial funding from MSquared, which raised $150 million from a16z crypto, SoftBank, Mirana Ventures, CMT Digital, and SIG.

About the Role:

We're looking for a Demo Engineer to build compelling tangible demonstrations of what's possible on Somnia. You'll take concepts from DeFi mechanics to agentic workflows and turn them into working prototypes, live demos, and visual content that makes developers and users say "I need to build on this."

This is a hands-on builder role. You won't be waiting for briefs. You'll spot opportunities, prototype fast, and ship things that make Somnia's capabilities real and visible. You should be someone who reaches for AI tools instinctively and treats them as a multiplier on your output.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build demo dApps that showcase Somnia's speed, cost, and execution (e.g., real-time trading interfaces, onchain games, agent-powered apps).

  • Create trading bot demos that highlight Somnia's execution, the advantages of onchain order books and our agentic workflows.

  • Prototype agentic apps autonomous agents coordinating onchain, prediction market resolvers, agent-to-agent interactions

  • Produce video walkthroughs and live coding sessions that break down how demos work under the hood

  • Develop reusable starter kits and templates that lower the barrier for new developers

  • Ideate independently monitor the ecosystem, spot trends, and propose demos that position Somnia ahead of competitors

  • Collaborate with DevRel, Marketing, and BD to align demos with GTM priorities and partnership opportunities

Requirements:

Must have:

  • Solid Solidity and EVM development experience (writing, deploying, and interacting with smart contracts)

  • Ability to build frontend interfaces for demos (framework of your choice)

  • Strong self-direction — you generate ideas, not just execute them

  • Comfort with rapid prototyping; shipping a rough demo in days, not weeks

  • Heavy use of AI tools as a core part of your development workflow

  • Good instincts for what makes a demo compelling vs. forgettable

  • Clear written and verbal communication

Nice to have:

  • Experience with CLOB/orderbook-based DEXs or trading systems

  • Strong design skills for presenting demos

  • Familiarity with AI agent frameworks or autonomous agent design

  • Video production or live streaming experience

  • Previous DevRel, hackathon, or developer education work

  • Understanding of DeFi primitives (AMMs, lending, stablecoins, yield)
