Director, Platform and Integration Lead

Blockstream was founded in 2014 by Dr. Adam Back and a group of cryptographers and engineers passionate about Bitcoin and its potential to transform financial infrastructure. Today, Blockstream builds secure Bitcoin and Layer-2 technologies used by banks, financial institutions, and enterprises worldwide.

We are seeking a Director, Platform & Integration Lead, a senior leadership role responsible for defining how client platforms are technically realized across systems, data environments, and Blockstream infrastructure.

This role operates in close partnership with the Director, Industry Lead, Financial Services, translating industry-specific solution strategies and reference architectures into scalable, production-ready platform implementations. While the Industry Lead defines what should be built and why based on market and client needs, the Platform & Integration Lead defines how those solutions are architected, integrated, and delivered at scale.

Acting as the bridge between the Head of Solutions and the Head of Delivery, this role ensures that architectural designs are executable, interoperable, and aligned with enterprise-grade integration standards.

What You’ll Be Doing (Responsibilities)

• Lead the architecture and integration of multi-system client platforms, connecting banking systems, enterprise infrastructure, and Blockstream technologies

• Partner closely with:

  • Director, Industry Lead, Financial Services to translate industry solution strategy and reference architectures into platform designs

  • Head of Solutions to refine platform architecture and technical direction

  • Head of Delivery to ensure systems are buildable, testable, and scalable in production

• Define and own the platform integration strategy, including:

  • API architecture and system connectivity

  • Data flows, data models, and platform orchestration

  • Event-driven architectures and messaging systems

  • Cross-platform interoperability standards

• Design how APIs, data pipelines, platform services, and AI-enabled capabilities interact to form unified institutional platforms

• Establish and govern integration frameworks and reusable patterns aligned with industry reference architectures defined by the Industry Lead

• Guide engineering teams across:

  • DevOps, CI/CD, and deployment environments

  • System integration, testing, and validation

  • Platform scalability, reliability, and performance

• Act as the senior authority for cross-platform dependencies, integration decisions, and system-level trade-offs

• Ensure alignment between solution architecture (what is designed) and technical delivery (what is built and operated)

What We Look for In You (Required Qualifications)

• 10+ years of experience in platform architecture, enterprise integration, or large-scale system implementation

• Proven experience designing and delivering complex, multi-system platforms in banking, fintech, or enterprise environments

• Strong expertise in:

  • API-first architecture

  • Microservices and event-driven systems

  • Enterprise data platforms and data integration

  • Cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)

• Demonstrated ability to translate high-level solution architectures into executable platform designs, working across architecture and engineering teams

• Experience collaborating with industry/domain leaders and client-facing architects to operationalize solution strategies

• Strong understanding of system interoperability, integration patterns, and distributed system design

• Languages: German or Swiss German and English required; French and/or Italian a plus

• Location: Switzerland (Zurich/Zug preferred)

Nice To Haves (Preferred Qualifications)

• Strong knowledge of Bitcoin and blockchain technologies

• Experience integrating digital asset infrastructure into traditional banking systems

• Background in treasury management, corporate finance, or digital asset custody

• Experience with FIX, OMS, PMS, fund administration, accounting, or market data systems

• Experience working with or advising banks, asset managers, and institutional clients

• Exposure to traditional payment systems and cross-border payment flows

• Experience supporting or scaling go-to-market teams in fintech or digital assets
